Well, this really lasted well, didnt it! After a measley 2 attempts (and they arent particularly interesting, are they?!), I failed completely to keep my blog even remotely up to date. And yet I've probably had more practice and material to work from in the past year than the previous two! Hey ho, I might just restart this and log some more stuff, even if it's just to help me remember what it was I opened and drank last night / last week!

Chablis - La Cour des Loges 2004.

Lovely light supper tonight, Lemon sole with a herb coating and salad, accompanied by said Chablis.

Another lesson recently learned - I hadnt realised that Chablis is derived from the Chardonnay grape (thanks Billy!) however, what differentiates Chardonnay labelled wine from Chablis? (there's one for later..)

We picked this wine up in France (from Super U in Morceanx!) earlier in the year for about £5 (7.55 Euro) and we chilled it to really cool before opening. It definately stood up to being really cold.

The immediate impression is that it is a light, but not too delicate wine; it really complimented the meal and was strong enough to be drunk after plum crumble too (though not quite as nice as with a clear palate it has to be said!). It has a fresh, clear taste, exhibits good "stickiness" on the side of the glass.

This Chablis is dry and certainly drier than that of our previous post, I'd say as low as 2 on the scale of 1-5 I'm now using.

Another great wine though!

Have decided this week to commence a blog as i now have something that I at least will have interest in revisiting.... Henceforth this shall be my Whining & Cheese personal blog.

I have a keen interest (as a consumer at least!) in wine, but, like many, am frustrated by my lack of knowledge when i go to buy a bottle of plonk, so hopefully I will be looking back at this in years to come, thinking "wow, I really didnt know anything about wine, did I?!" yet actually have managed to retain some knowledge...

So, onto my first tasting. Its saturday, its been a fab week, an incredible amount of new work has sprung up at PVL and Preview is firing on all cylinders and about to be turbo-charged with the arrival of our new Creative (Director), cant wait..

so, after a great steak meal, we've cracked open a straightforward, no-brainer for us - we have bought it by the case in the past:
Montana Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2005 (New Zealand)
Its definately an easy drinker, this ones been chilled to "f-cold" in the freezer, as its warmed up slightly we realise that was a mistake - so not too cold next time!

Ok, here goes:
Its got a fruity bouquet, clings nicely to the glass (indicating that its quite alcoholic ..? - one to check later), has a real fresh taste to it, so goes nicely on its own (as now) but i can imagine it going well with fish or chicken.
There's no harshness to it, very smooth, dry wine, but bordering on a demi-sec if there is such a thing, if dry has a scale of 1-5 (1 is sand) then this is 5.
It has substance and strength to it, this is not a light or weak wine.
In short, Yum. (not sure that is very expert, but pass the bottle nonetheless!)
